Have you ever had a week, a month or a season of what feels like never-ending stress? Yeah, we all have. This past year has been an incredibly challenging year for us but, through it all we have found peace and strength in the Lord, our family and friends who we are so blessed to have. I’m a very emotional person so even though in my heart I know it’s all in God’s hands, I’ve had many many days when my emotions have taken over and overwhelmed me. A couple of weeks a go I was having one of those days and as I was driving home changing stations I turned K-Love on just as Your Love is Like a River by Third Day came on and BAM! It was just the reminder and comfort I needed. The tears of sadness turned to tears of joy and peace. I can’t really put into words how I felt at that moment because the timing was just…. well, heavenly.
I’ve been wanting to make a large sing for a while and I decided to make one using one of my favorite lines from that song “When all my strength and hope is gone Your love is like a rock that I am standing on”.
I usually use my Cricut to cut a template when making signs, but I wanted different and larger fonts than I could get from my Cricut. It was time to try a different technique.
Here is what you will need:
- Photoshop or other graphics software
- Carbon paper
- Painting and distressing materials
- Thin brushes
I painted the edges of it brown and added Vaseline over the corners and edges before covering it all with white. This is my favorite distressing technique.
I used Photoshop to design the quote.
Once I was happy with how it looked, I sliced it and printed it out on 9 different sheets.
After putting the quote sheets back together and placing them where I wanted them, I put the carbon paper behind the sheets and traced all the letters with a pen.
This is what it looks like after I traced it out.
With a very thin brush I painted the outline and then filled them in.
Wipe off the areas with Vaseline and sand as desired to get something like this:
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you like this as much as I do.
